Overview

WE'RE HIRING Let’s help you launch your career with Alberta Veterinary Laboratories ("AVL / Solvet"). We are looking for an energetic and dedicated Senior Accountant to join our team on-site in our Calgary facility working 40 hours / week (Monday - Friday).

Responsibilities
  • Report to the Controller; perform day to day financial and accounting tasks for the Accounting department.
  • Drive performance with attention to detail and accurate financial records; contribute to timely and accurate financial documentation to support the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE), and subsequently International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Assist in the preparation of management reports, forecasts, and annual budgets.
  • Oversee general ledger functions and ensure reconciliation of accounts.
  • Bank reconciliations.
  • Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
  • Ensure remittance compliance with federal, provincial, and local regulations.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, providing required documentation and addressing auditor inquiries.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements in financial workflows.
  • Automate recurring tasks to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Payroll backup coverage.
  • Other duties as required.
Ideal Fit / Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • CPA Designation or equivalent
  • 2+ years in similar role
  • Good Manufacturing Process knowledge an asset

Skills and Attributes

  • Acumatica and UKG experience
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills (high functioning level of English required)
  • Highly organized and able to multi-task effectively to prioritize tasks and meet daily deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, multi-tasking ability, and ability to deliver results under time constraints
