About the Position

The Senior Accountant will be part of the Canadian Divisional Controller team, with personnel located across Canada. The successful applicant will support the day-to-day finance functions in accordance with corporate requirements.

The successful applicant will be headquartered out of the Burlington Ontario area.

The primary responsibilities include:

  • Perform all trade accounts receivable and ensure they are posted and collected in a timely manner.
  • Perform all premium payables and ensure they are paid in a timely manner.
  • Investigate all aged balances and work collaboratively with other departments to resolve.
  • Research, identify, and communicate key variances relating to financial and operational metrics
  • Perform regular reconciliations to ensure accurate financial statement reporting.
  • Work cross-functionally with other departments for all financial matters.
  • Maintain up to date records of finance in all finance systems.
  • Act as a liaison between various teams to facilitate any issues requiring resolution.
  • Be an integral team member by providing support where needed.
  • Provide ad-hoc financial and operational analysis to support business decisions
  • Research, identify, and communicate key variances relating to financial and operational metrics
  • Improve upon existing and implement new reporting as requested by management
  • Various other assignments, as required
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma considered an asset
  • Accounting courses, or bookkeeping experience considered an asset
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, with ability to analyze data using complex functions and pivot tables
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High degree of accuracy with a good eye for detail
