Description

This position provides custodial and personal care services to clients that contract with Assisting Hands for services under the direction of the Staffing Coordinator in compliance with the Plan of Care.

Education & Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required


• One (1) year experience in the home or long‑term care setting is preferred.

Reports to: Staffing Coordinator

Primary Duties

• Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment within the client’s residence, including light cleaning, straightening of rooms, washing dishes or laundry, and other tasks to maintain cleanliness and safety.


• Perform all personal care activities contained in a written Plan of Care, such as assisting with personal hygiene, ambulation, exercise, eating, dressing, shaving, physical transfer, and other duties as assigned.


• Provide nutritional support as needed.


• Report changes in the client’s condition.


• Assist with devices for aid to daily living such as a wheelchair, walker, or HOYER lift.


• Assist with prescribed range‑of‑motion exercises.


• Teach household routine and skills to well members of the family.


• Measure intake and output of fluids.


• Measure and record temperature, pulse, respiration or blood pressure.


• Keep records of personal health‑care activities.


• Observe appearance and gross behavioral changes in the client and report to the agency supervisor.


• Assisting the client with the self‑administration of medication by taking, bringing, and returning the medication, and keeping a record of assistance.


• Assist with self‑administered medication as needed, including preparing items such as juice or water, opening medication containers or tearing foil, steadying the client’s arm or body, and following infection‑control policies.


• Abide by all policies and procedures outlined in the agency’s Policy and Procedure Manual, Caregiver Handbook, and Caregiver Training Manual.

Hours

Dependent on assignment; shifts available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. Assisting Hands does not guarantee hours.
