This role is located at Cobequid Pass Rest Area: 209 NS-104, Londonderry, NS B0M 1M0.

Site Description: Located in Londonderry, this rest area is a vital part of Nova Scotia's transportation infrastructure, with thousands of travelers passing through daily.

Position Details:

• Full-Time Security Guard
• Site: Cobequid Pass
• Overtime: After 48 hours weekly
• Hours: 4 on, 4 off rotational shifts
• Payrate: $20.63/hour
• Posting Date: May 1, 2024
• Closing Date: June 1, 2025

Schedule Example: 4 on, 4 off rotation of 12-hour shifts (day and night shifts).

Key Responsibilities

The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe environment by patrolling premises, monitoring surveillance, controlling access, and enforcing protocols.

• Provide exceptional customer service and respond to inquiries.
• Patrol properties to prevent unauthorized access and manage disruptive individuals.
• Enforce rules and policies, control access.
• Write reports on daily activities and incidents.
• Use radios and computer applications for communication and documentation.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain a Security License for Nova Scotia.
• Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C.
• Valid Driver License and reliable transportation.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, professional demeanor.
• Physical ability to stand, sit, walk for extended periods.
• Comfortable handling emergency situations involving trauma, aggression, intoxication, bodily fluids.
• Basic skills in technology use, report writing, and communication.
• Excellent English communication skills, verbal and written.
• Must provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB). If lacking, can enroll in Paladin's training program prior to onboarding (costs covered with a 6-month commitment).
• Legally authorized to work in Canada.
