A premier security services company in Kingston, Ontario, is seeking a Temporary Full Time Security Guard to maintain safety and provide excellent customer service at Queen's University Libraries. The ideal candidate will possess a valid Ontario security license and prior customer service experience, and must be able to commit for six months. Position: Temporary Full Time Security Guard

Site: Queen's University Libraries (Patrol) - 101 Union St

Hours: Week 1: Thursday 1200-0030, Friday 1200-2230 and Saturday 1000-2000; Week 2: Wednesday 1200-0030, Thursday 1200-0030, Friday 1200-2230, Saturday 1000-2000

Overtime Method: Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Payrate: $20.60

End Date: November 30, 2025

Posting Date: September 22, 2025

Closing Date (Internal): September 29, 2025

Job Description
  • Greet and interact with staff, students, and visitors politely and professionally
  • Ensure all staff, visitors, and vendors are following the protocols for Queen's University
  • Provide assistance as necessary to staff and students
  • Assist visitors as necessary with wayfinding as required
  • Proactive, consistent patrols of the campus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with maintaining the utmost professionalism
  • Strong interpersonal skills, flexible, and customer service orientation
  • Remain calm and effectively perform in emergency situations
  • Able to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
  • Report writing and note taking
  • Surveillance monitoring
  • Additional job duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
  • Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
  • Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
  • Proficient in English (both oral and written)
  • Bilingualism in French and English is considered an asset
  • 6+ months in customer service
  • Previous security experience is preferred
  • Must be able to commit to the position for 6 months
  • Must have Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB) and Use of Force Certification (UOF)
  • Paladin Security will pay for MOAB and UOF certification on a commitment contract (minimum six (6) months)
  • Upon Hiring: Must be able to attend four (5) days of MOAB and UOF Certification class during the week
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
