Venor is proud to partner with ReCover on their search for an experienced Sales Manager to join their team. This position can be based anywhere in Atlantic Canada.

ReCover is a forward-thinking non-profit organization based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, committed to transforming buildings into energy-efficient, sustainable spaces. ReCover helps building owners and communities identify, optimize, and implement deep retrofit solutions to enhance comfort, reduce energy consumption, and lower utility costs. As the deep retrofit accelerator for Atlantic Canada, we are creating alliances to transform the building sector in Atlantic Canada.

Position Summary

The Sales Manager will lead the outreach to building owners and organizations, identifying viable retrofit opportunities and guiding them through the early stages of engagement with ReCover. This role blends relationship-building with technical knowledge of buildings and energy efficiency. The ideal candidate is comfortable speaking with business leaders, understands building systems, and is motivated to drive contracts forward that contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. As the Business Development Manager you will play a key role in driving meaningful partnerships that help building owners unlock the full potential of deep retrofits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Charge: Actively identify and qualify new deep retrofit opportunities for our growing list of prospective building owners and organizations.
  • Build Client Trust & Rapport: Guide clients through the entire early engagement process, from initial conversations to in-depth technical retrofit discussions about their building’s potential.
  • Be a Strategic Partner: Collaborate closely with our internal team to shape outreach strategies and develop compelling, tailored proposals and presentations that highlight the value and impact of a deep retrofit.
  • Drive Contracts Forward: Lead the contracting process and assess whether potential clients meet eligibility criteria and have the capacity to move forward with retrofit projects.
  • Apply Your Expertise: Leverage your technical knowledge of commercial building systems and energy efficiency principles to identify opportunities for improved performance and reduced consumption.
  • Champion the Mission: Support ReCover’s broader vision by applying technical insight and helping clients see the bigger impact of deep retrofits on energy efficiency and sustainability.
  • Deliver an Excellent Experience: Provide responsive communication and thoughtful relationship management to ensure every client feels supported and valued throughout the journey.
  • Manage for Success: Keep a clear, organized pipeline—tracking, updating, and reporting on prospect lists and business development activities to ensure steady progress toward targets.
Qualifications and Skills

This role is ideal for an experienced sales or business development professional who thrives on technical conversations and is motivated to help organizations make smart, impactful investments in their buildings.

The successful candidate will bring proven experience in business development, sales, account management, or client engagement, preferably within the building, construction, or energy efficiency sector. A strong foundation in commercial building systems, including HVAC, mechanical systems, and building enclosures, is essential, along with familiarity with deep energy retrofit principles, energy efficiency measures, and greenhouse gas reduction strategies.

Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills are required to build trust and rapport with both business owners and technical stakeholders. The role calls for the ability to assess buildings, identify opportunities to reduce energy consumption, and translate those insights into clear, compelling proposals and presentations. A high level of organization and attention to detail is critical, with the capacity to manage multiple prospects, proposals, and contracts at once. While a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation or similar credential would be considered an asset, it is not a requirement for success in the role.
