Overview

Job Title: Safety and Compliance Specialist

Job Summary: We are hiring a Safety and Compliance Specialist to work with one of our transportation and logistics clients in Valcourt, QC. The Safety and Compliance Specialist is responsible for overseeing and maintaining safety programs and regulatory compliance within a commercial trucking and fleet operations environment. This role ensures adherence to Canadian and U.S. transportation regulations, supports accident prevention initiatives, and promotes a strong safety culture across operations.

Working closely with internal safety leadership and operations teams, the specialist monitors driver qualification processes, compliance documentation, and safety performance metrics. The role also plays a key part in analyzing incidents, tracking costs and injuries, and implementing programs designed to reduce risk and improve overall safety outcomes.

This position requires strong knowledge of transportation regulations, hands-on experience with fleet safety and compliance, and the ability to collaborate across departments in a fast-paced transportation setting.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and administer fleet safety and compliance programs to support safe and efficient transportation operations
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable Canadian and U.S. transportation regulations at the provincial, state, and federal levels
  • Partner with safety leadership, operations teams, and supervisors to enhance safety performance and regulatory adherence
  • Participate in safety meetings, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety metrics and outcomes
  • Oversee driver qualification and onboarding processes, including application reviews, driving record checks, and drug and alcohol program compliance
  • Track, analyze, and report on accidents, incidents, injuries, and associated costs
  • Develop and implement proactive safety programs and corrective action plans to reduce risk and prevent incidents
  • Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture across fleet and operations teams
  • Support ongoing training, communication, and education related to safety and compliance best practices
Skills/Qualifications
  • Bilingual (English and French) required
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • 2+ years of experience in fleet safety, compliance, or a related transportation role
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with DOT fleet compliance (federal, state, and local regulations)
  • Supervisory or leadership experience within a transportation or logistics environment
  • Strong working knowledge of transportation regulations and standards (provincial, state, and federal)
  • Solid understanding of tractor-trailer operations and fleet safety best practices
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and promote a safety-first culture
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and support drivers and operations teams
