How you’ll make a difference

You will respond to external requests for copies of information from claim files while ensuring personal information of workers is protected. You will complete a careful line by line review of these claim files and medical information packages and will release information based on the authority of the Workers’ Compensation Act (WC Act) and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act.

Your Review Clerk responsibilities
  • Use your judgment to determine the right of access to records;
  • Use the appropriate procedures for redacting information;
  • Review medical information packages to ensure information is being disclosed in accordance with relevant guidelines;
  • Review claim files to ensure information released meets the obligation under s. 147 and 148 of the WC Act and under the FOIP Act;
  • Read important documents with superior attention to detail to determine what can or cannot be released and/or must be withheld from disclosure;

Your experience and skills
  • Post-secondary education or the equivalent combination of work experience with information access and privacy legislation is preferred.
  • General knowledge of WCB legislation, policy and procedures would be an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience applying the FOIP Act.
  • Ability to maintain a high attention to detail while reviewing documents for long periods throughout the day.
  • Motivated to work independently.
  • Proficiency using business computer applications including IMAGE, Adobe Pro, eCO and PAM.
  • The ability to exercise independent judgment and work with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is considered an asset.

Salary: Salary Grade 6 Start Rate: $53,199 to Job Rate: $59,125

This position is temporary for a period of up to one year with the possibility of extension or permanency. Final candidates for this position are required to undergo a security clearance as a condition of employment. Successful candidate must reside in Alberta and be able to work in person in our Edmonton downtown office as required by their position. This position is eligible for hybrid work schedule and successful candidates will be expected to work in-office as scheduled (subject to change).
