How you’ll make a difference:

You will play a vital role in protecting the privacy of Alberta’s workers while ensuring timely and accurate responses to external requests for claim file information. Using your keen attention to detail, you will carefully review claim documents and medical information packages to determine what can be disclosed under the Workers’ Compensation Act (WC Act), the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) and the Access to Information Act (ATIA). Your work helps maintain trust and transparency, making a meaningful impact every day.

Your review clerk responsibilities:
  • Apply sound judgment to determine the right of access to records.
  • Use established procedures to redact sensitive information.
  • Review medical information packages to ensure disclosure aligns with privacy guidelines.
  • Examine claim files to confirm compliance with sections 147 and 148 of the WC Act, POPA, and ATIA.
  • Read and analyze documents with exceptional attention to detail to identify information that must be withheld or released.
  • Collaborate with a supportive team while managing your workload independently.

Your experience and skills:
  • Post‑secondary education or the equivalent combination of work experience with information access and privacy legislation is preferred.
  • General knowledge of WCB legislation, policies and procedures would be an asset.
  • Experience applying POPA and ATIA.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to review documents for extended periods.
  • Proficiency using business computer applications including Adobe Pro, eCO, Image and PAM.
  • The ability to exercise independent judgment and work with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is considered an asset.

Salary: Salary Grade 6 Start Rate: $53,199 to Job Rate: $59,125 per annum

This position is temporary for a period of up to one year with the possibility of extension or permanency. Final candidates for this position are required to undergo a security clearance as a condition of employment. Successful candidate must reside in Alberta and be able to work in person in our Edmonton downtown office as required by their position. This position is eligible for hybrid work schedule and successful candidates will be expected to work in‑office as scheduled (subject to change).
