Job summary

A leading shipbuilding company in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, is seeking a Requirements Engineer to join their Platform Engineering organization. The role involves defining and executing requirements management processes for the River Class Destroyer program. Successful candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in engineering, at least 3 years of relevant experience, and strong stakeholder management skills. This is a full-time, in-office position with a commitment to compliance and technical excellence.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years' experience in shipbuilding or warship operations in an engineering or project management role.
  • P.Eng designation and PMP certification considered an asset.
  • Strong stakeholder management and teamwork skills; proactive and results-focused.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a Requirements Engineer to join our Platform Engineering organization. In this role, you will play a critical part in defining and executing Requirements Management and Classification processes for the River Class Destroyer (RCD) program. You will collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, and external stakeholders to ensure compliance and technical excellence across all phases of the project.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate development of the System Requirements Document (SRD) and associated deliverables.
  • Conduct requirements analysis and reviews in line with the Systems Engineering Management Plan and Requirements Management Plan.
  • Provide technical expertise in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes and tools.
  • Manage the DOORS Requirements Management database and CAMEO MBSE software applications.
  • Support classification and certification working groups and coordinate activities related to Plan Approval.
  • Ensure all documentation required for achieving Plan Approval is delivered to the classification society.
  • Track and resolve Plan Approval comments and provide vendor support for Class Rules queries.
  • Oversee requirements traceability from SRD to the lowest Configuration Item for all systems.
  • Ensure subcontractor and ISI SE deliverables comply with the Statement of Work.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders, including subcontractors and Canadian government representatives.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
