As we continue to expand our network, increase flight frequencies, and introduce more services, we’re looking for passionate team members to help us in our mission to make air travel accessible for everyone. Your Team

Join the Dispatch team at Flair as a Relief Chief Duty Dispatcher, a safety-focused and operationally driven professional supporting day-of-operations oversight. Reporting to the Director, Dispatch, this role is responsible for overseeing operations and supervising Duty Dispatchers on shift when to cover vacations, sick calls, training events, or other operational requirements. When not assigned to Chief Duty Dispatcher coverage, the role functions as a regular line dispatcher while remaining qualified and available to assume Chief Duty Dispatcher duties as required. The Relief Chief Duty Dispatcher also acts as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders, providing guidance and operational support to Dispatchers as needed.

This role is based on-site at our Edmonton, AB office.

A Day In The Life
  • Examine available weather data and resources for major weather events that may impact operations. Share relevant information with internal stakeholders to support informed decision-making and effective resource planning, and provide timely operational updates as required.
  • Review Captain Reports and respond to items related to Dispatch. Provide feedback where appropriate, recommend procedural improvements, and elevate concerns to the SMD when issues involve a specific dispatcher.
  • Review the planned number of flights for the week ahead and adjust workloads to ensure balanced coverage across dispatch desks. During day‑off operations, reallocate workload as needed when operational events create unmanageable desk volumes.
  • Coordinate with Air Traffic Control (ATC) at all levels, including participation in special teleconferences related to weather or other operational events, and relay relevant information to Duty Dispatchers.
  • Support Duty Dispatchers when workloads become unmanageable due to operational disruptions.
  • Investigate Safety Management System (SMS) reports and provide feedback to relevant stakeholders.
  • Follow up on‑related issue tracking.
  • Monitor and follow up on On‑Time Performance (OTP) issues related to Dispatch and provide feedback as required.
  • Monitor and update Route Briefing Notes to ensure accuracy and ongoing relevance.

  • Update aircraft configurations when performance‑limiting MELs are applied.
  • Create Company Operations NOTAMs (CO NOTAMs) as required.
  • Assist with new destination setup and testing activities.
  • Activate the Dispatch Emergency Response Plan (ERP) when required.
  • Collaborate with Chief Dispatcher Training on ongoing training initiatives and development.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to Dispatchers on shift regarding technical and operational matters.
  • Ensure quality and compliance with Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) across all aspects of flight planning and flight watch.
  • Provide technical direction to Duty Officers, the Chief Pilot or designate, and other departments as required.
  • Arrange overtime coverage due to sickness and make necessary roster adjustments.
  • >Perform other duties as assigned by the SMD.
