Job description

Overview

Toronto Veterinary Emergency Hospital (TVEH) is a large 24-hour emergency and referral hospital located in Scarborough, ON. We are welcoming a full-time Registered Veterinary Technician, RVT to join our Anesthesia and Surgery Team. While our network is large, we still offer that local community feeling, mentorship, and additional training.

Responsibilities

• Work with their assigned Surgeon on appointments and surgical procedures
• Provide excellent customer service, maintain a positive attitude, and put pets and pet parents at ease
• Keep accurate medical records, answer messages and client communications
• Prepare medications, estimates, and billing
• Assist and perform anesthesia for patients across multiple services within the hospital
• Technical skills: physical examinations, patient assessment, venipuncture, catheter placement, peripheral nerve blocks, epidurals, arterial catheters and orthopedic radiographs
• Review patient history, prepare flow sheets, and anesthetic protocols
• Coordinate with other departments as needed
• Obtain and prepare lab samples
• Patient management and care
• Willingness to learn and take on additional duties as needed
