Job Overview
The Central Brampton Family Health Team is seeking a highly organized, efficient, and professional Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) / Administrative Assistant. This dual-role position is responsible for delivering both administrative and clinical support to healthcare providers, the Executive Director, and patients. The successful candidate will assist with a wide range of administrative responsibilities while also providing hands-on clinical support within the Breastfeeding Clinic.
Clinical Duties
- Provide reception support for Breastfeeding Clinic;
- Answer patient inquiries (in person and on the phone) in a professional manner;
- Triage referrals to the Breastfeeding Program to book appropriately;
- Assist physicians with procedures such as Tongue Ties;
- Ensure exam rooms are tidy and prepared for each patient visit;
- Prepare physician computers for appointments;
- Ensure the breastfeeding cart is stocked with pamphlets;
- Weigh babies for the breastfeeding clinic;
- Input BMI, height, and weight into the EMR for the physician to review;
- Utilize tablet to input information such as babies\' heights and weights; and
- Assist the lactation consultant as required.
Administrative Duties
- Make phone calls as required to book and schedule appointments;
- Ensure all IHP schedules are managed appropriately (rescheduling and reminder calls);
- Provide administrative support for physicians and lactation consultants;
- Accurately scan and upload documents into the EMR;
- Photocopy handouts for clinics;
- Order office supplies and clinical equipment;
- Handle phone system and voicemail, extension changes for staff, check and reply to messages, and troubleshoot when needed;
- Create and record voice greetings, and manage voice mailboxes;
- Make reminder calls for patient appointments;
- Prepare all necessary paperwork and handouts for patients attending programs;
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills and prioritize and maintain a variety of tasks;
- Exercise discretion in dealing with patients and protect confidential patient information;
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of current PHIPA and Occupational Health and Safety legislation;
- Update any required log books;
- Fax referrals and requisitions;
- Contact physician offices / laboratories with privacy breaches;
- Document any privacy breaches that may occur and report them to the Privacy Officer;
- Participate in staff meetings, exchange ideas and receive mutual support;
- Upload referrals into the EMR and scan documents as needed;
- Schedule patient appointments and follow ups;
- Send consult reports to the ordering physician;
- Perform administrative duties as required by the FHT to cover vacations, sick days, etc. at both Site A and Site B; and
- Other duties as needed.
Job Type : Part-time
Pay : $22.00-$24.00 per hour
Expected hours : 24 per week
