About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Program Manager of Assistive Technology, and under the direction of an appropriate, certified Clinician, the Registered Orthotic Technician provides technical expertise toward evaluation, treatment planning, individualized design, custom fabrication, and maintenance of assistive devices, primarily orthoses, to enhance patient mobility and/or physical function. The Registered Technician collaborates with the inter-professional health care team to provide optimal care and to assist the patient in achieving their orthotic goals.

The Registered Technician works with patients directly and indirectly by contributing to the orthotic ongoing care and works closely with the certified clinician to ensure the quality and integrity of orthoses meet patients’ physical and functional needs. Materials and components used are aligned with best evidence-informed practice. The role requires critical thinking, problem solving, and effective communication to deliver high-quality care to patients.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Registration in good standing with Orthotics Prosthetics Canada (annual renewal)
  • Minimum of two years’ experience (Technical Internship is considered experience)
  • Ability to communicate well with patients, families, and the health care team
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills to manage changing caseloads
  • High level of manual dexterity, strong problem-solving abilities, computer skills
  • Understanding of privacy and confidentiality requirements; infection control procedures
  • Competencies in other languages are an asset; French preferred

Hours
  • Two (2) Permanent, Full-time positions; 75 hours bi-weekly
Compensation and Benefits

$32.59 - $40.95 Hourly
