A prominent healthcare provider in Edmonton is seeking a Shared Care Hemodialysis Registered Nurse (RN). The RN will provide comprehensive nursing services and patient education in a supportive environment. With a minimum of three years of hemodialysis experience and strong assessment skills, the ideal candidate will lead integrated patient care. This part-time position offers a competitive salary ranging from $39.58 to $54.16 per hour, with additional professional development opportunities.
Your Opportunity: We have a new and exciting opportunity at West Edmonton Kidney Care for a Shared Care Hemodialysis Registered Nurse (RN) position. As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the primary focus of the Registered Nurse is to teach patients with chronic renal failure how to perform their hemodialysis treatments within the supportive environment of the community dialysis unit setting. The RN practices within the philosophy and guidelines of Alberta Kidney Care – North (AKC-N) to provide leadership, critical thinking, clinical judgment, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for the purpose of promoting, maintaining, or restoring health, preventing illness, injury, and disability to the renal patient. A strong hemodialysis knowledge base is critical to teach and provide support to patients in all aspects of their hemodialysis treatment. The RN practices nursing care according to AKC-N Practice Direction Documents, regulating body, clinical policies, and nursing practice standards. In addition, the successful candidate should have some understanding of research and evidence-based decision making. This position is based in the West Edmonton Kidney Care Community Hemodialysis Unit.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Posting specifics: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
Additional Required Qualifications: Minimum three (3) years recent hemodialysis experience required. Demonstrated excellent assessment, organizational and patient care skills. Ability to make sound clinical assessments and ability to communicate findings in a concise and accurate manner. Strong interpersonal, teamwork and problem-solving skills essential.
Preferred Qualifications: BScN preferred. Home dialysis experience preferred. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in adult education and learning, and teaching patients within a clinical setting. Experience with Connect Care preferred.
