Nurse Residency - Younker 8 Medical/Respiratory - Methodist

Shift: Full Time Days or Nights, every 3rd weekend and holiday rotation

Shift differentials available for qualifying shifts

Younker 8 cares for a variety of acute care patients, specializing in respiratory diagnoses, diabetic ketoacidosis, and acute or chronic medical conditions. The unit partners the Physician Internal Medicine Residency Program and is involved in many new patient care initiatives. Responsibilities

Applications are accepted year-round, but we encourage you to apply during your last semester of nursing school. Start dates depend on licensure, onboarding, unit availability, and your personal preference.

All newly licensed RNs with less than six months of acute RN experience at the time of application are required to participate in the RN Residency program. Newly licensed nurses must apply for the Registered Nurse Residency position.

Responsibilities include functioning as a Registered Nurse as per Iowa Nursing Regulations and Practice Act, providing nursing care, and maintaining a practice environment aligned with the ANA Code for Nurses, the Philosophy of Nursing at UnityPoint Health-Des Moines, within the Professional Nurse Practice Model, in collaboration with other caregivers. Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Newly licensed nurse within the last 6 months or less than 6 months of acute RN experience.
  • Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.
  • Completion of residency program within the first 12 months of employment.
  • Dept of Labor Level III Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
