False Creek Healthcare Centre, a division of Clearpoint Health Network, is now hiring a Registered Nurse PACU (Peri-Anesthesia Care Unit) for a full-time position.

The Centre is located in downtown Vancouver and has 3 operating rooms specializing in ENT, Plastics, Oculoplasty, Spine, Gynecological procedures, and Hernia surgery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with all members of the healthcare team.
  2. Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substances regulations.
  3. Document patient care appropriately in the medical record.
  4. Participate cooperatively and communicate effectively with team members.
  5. Maintain patient confidentiality and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
  6. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and participating in professional societies.
  7. Participate in educational programs as required.
  8. Assist with the orientation and support for new staff at the facility.
  9. Perform related duties as assigned by leadership.
  10. Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Completion of an accredited nursing education program with 2-3 years recent experience in an acute care post-anesthetic care unit, including at least 4-6 months current PACU experience in a tertiary setting.
  2. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals.
  3. Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) peri-anesthesia certification or critical care certification, or completion of a peri-anesthesia or critical care nursing program.
  4. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
  5. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  6. Certification and recent experience with IV initiation.
  7. Experience with care of intubated patients.
  8. Experience with ECG analysis.
  9. Advanced knowledge of regional anesthesia, neuroaxial anesthesia, multimodal analgesia, and chronic pain management.
  10. Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  11. Ability to work in physically demanding conditions and flexible shifts, including possibly extended hours.
  12. Excellent assessment, organizational, communication, and team collaboration skills.
  13. Current immunizations for hepatitis B, influenza, measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus, and diphtheria.
  14. Recent tuberculin skin test (within 6 months of hire).
