A health services provider in Grande Prairie is looking for a Registered Nurse to join the Obstetrics Department. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care for patients during pregnancy and postpartum, with an emphasis on high-quality, evidence-based care. Applicants must possess an accredited nursing qualification and current certification as an IBCLC. The position offers a competitive salary range from $43.26 to $59.21 per hour, alongside various benefits.
Your Opportunity: The GPRH Obstetrics Department consists of single room maternity care model which has 22 room; 18 Labour, Delivery and recovery rooms; 4 private room antepartum/postpartum rooms; 5 bed assessment/Ob triage area. As the lactation consultant you will also support our 10 bed NICU and the pediatric department. We care for neonates from 32 weeks gestation to term. We also care for patients who are low to high risk during the antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum periods including patients requiring C-sections. We value providing high quality, effective, efficient, evidence-based, patient-centered care for all our pregnant, labouring, postpartum, newborn and perinatal loss patients. By joining the GPRH Obstetrical & NICU team, you will challenge and build your nursing, interpersonal, coaching, teaching, multitasking and assessment skills through care of patients whose condition changes rapidly through the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum process. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Current Certification as IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) required. Basic computer skills. Strong communication skills. Ability to establish strong working relationships with colleagues and patients, and work within an interdisciplinary team. Adaptability to a constantly changing environment. Ability to meet physical requirements (including, but not limited to: sitting, standing for long periods, lifting, bending, twisting, squatting, pushing and pulling). Ability to be self-motivated and work independently within a multidisciplinary team.
Baccalaureate degree preferred. Current certification in Neonatal Resuscitation. Experience and training in Fetal Health Surveillance is an asset. Leadership experience.
