Qualifications:
  • Current Certificate of Competence in the Province of Ontario from College of Nurses.
  • Certification in Fetal Health Surveillance (Canadian) is required.
  • Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation is required.
  • Current or within two years Maternal and Child experience required. Preference will be given to candidates with current labour and delivery experience.
  • Perinatal Certificate or equivalent.
  • Breastfeeding Certificate.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a Perinatal Peri-operative certificate or experience (within 2 years).
  • Demonstrated interest and knowledge in family centred maternity care.
  • Demonstrated ability to function in emergency situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication skills.
  • Demonstrated clinical assessment and family/patient teaching skills.
  • Demonstrated skill and knowledge in I.V. Therapy is required.
  • Demonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality and availability.
  • Experience supporting families with breastfeeding.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality and patient safety, considers safety of self and co-workers.
