Overview

Assisted Living Alberta is dedicated to Enhancing Care in the Community, helping people be healthy, well and independent in their homes and communities. We are looking for a Registered Nurse to join our Home Living team to provide professional support services in the homes of clients of all ages and stages of life. This position is based out of the Westview Home Care office and will provide support to the Suburban/Rural West team, with travel to other home care network offices as required. The Registered Nurse works as a self-directed team member within Continuing Care in the Edmonton zone, collaborating with the health care team. Responsibilities include needs assessment, delivering therapeutic nursing services within professional practice standards, coordinating resources, establishing goals for client delivery, evaluating outcomes, and providing case management as well as direct client care that is evidence-based and client-centered. The RN acts as a clinical consultant to the team, develops care plans based on unmet needs using internal and external resources, participates in staff development and mentoring student clinical experiences, and supports an integrated, holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance.

Please note: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Qualifications
  • Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4) and NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification.
  • Additional Required Qualifications: Two years of recent nursing experience (obtained within the last 5 years) or completion of a refresher program within 2 years. Self-directed and able to work independently with sound professional judgement. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple details. Strong communication and assessment skills to collaborate with healthcare team members, clients, and families in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with computer applications (Microsoft Office, Visio, Outlook, Internet) and ability to complete a hands-on assessment if required. Physical ability to perform nursing tasks including transferring clients. Ability to work in clients’ homes and various settings; capable of lifting/moving medical bags weighing 25-30 lbs.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Baccalaureate degree in nursing; relevant community sector experience; palliative care experience; Continuing Care and/or geriatric experience; experience with Connect Care and the RAI Home Care assessment tool; 2 years of current Case Management experience in Continuing Care.
