  • Location: Various FNHA Operational Sites and BC Health Authorities across British Columbia
  • Employment Type: Full-time / Part-time / Casual (Temporary Staffing)
  • Reports To: Site Supervisor / Clinical Nurse Lead / Health Director
Job Purpose:

As a Registered Nurse with Certified Practice, you'll provide advanced care in key areas such as reproductive health, emergency care, and remote practice. This role is critical in supporting underserved communities, particularly within First Nations populations, and requires both clinical expertise and cultural sensitivity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver clinical care in Certified Practice areas (e.g., emergency response, reproductive health)
  • Conduct assessments, make clinical decisions, and manage care plans independently or in collaboration with physicians
  • Provide emergency and primary care services in remote settings under the First Call model
  • Administer and manage contraception and STI treatments under Reproductive Health Certified Practice
  • Promote health and prevent disease through patient education and advocacy
  • Coordinate patient transfers and collaborate with external healthcare providers

Work Settings:

  • Care may be provided in a variety of environments:
    • FNHA-operated locations: Nursing Stations (Remote Certified Practice preferred), Health Centres (Immunization Competency required), community/satellite clinics
    • Facilities within BC Health Authorities: Interior Health, Fraser Health, Vancouver Coastal Health, Island Health, Northern Health, PHSA
Geographic Coverage:

Opportunities are available province-wide, including urban, rural, and remote First Nations communities.

Eligibility for Nursing Station Assignments:
  • Health Centres: BCCDC Immunization Competency (with BC Assessor sign-off) is mandatory
  • Nursing Stations: Immunization competency is preferred
Certified Practice Areas:
  • Reproductive Health: Contraception and STI management
  • First Call: On-call emergency and primary care
  • Remote Practice: Clinical care in resource-limited settings
Qualifications:
  • Licensure: Must hold Certified Practice designation through BCCNM
  • Certification: Valid BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 24 months of clinical nursing experience required for FNHA assignments

  • Two professional references
  • Up-to-date immunization records
