Job description
Overview

The Beaming Light Medical Practice and The Pavilion Medical Clinic are seeking a Temporary Full-Time Registered Nurse. Reporting to the Lead Physician, the Registered Nurse will work together with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide top-quality, evidence-based nursing care supporting acute and ongoing clinical needs. This role involves health education and support to patients in Prince Albert and the surrounding communities.

If you have a bachelors in nursing and looking to work 9 am-5 pm Monday to Friday with no hospital call-ins, then this job is for you!

This position is part of a newly developed Innovation Fund between the Saskatchewan Government and medical clinics across Saskatchewan with the aim of improving patient access and quality care through team-based support, that will deliver better access to primary care in the province of Saskatchewan. This position is temporary until March 31, 2027, with the possibility of an extension.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the coordination and delivery of Chronic Disease Management (CDM) for patients with Diabetes, Heart Failure, Chronic Obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and Coronary artery disease.
  • Conduct patient reviews, including medical histories, vital signs and appropriate lab tests.
  • Assist in the delivery and completion of individualized assessment tools such as the Rourke Baby Records, MoCA (Montreal Cognitive Assessment form for Cognitive Impairment and Dementia).
  • Administer injections and vaccinations to adults, and other treatment as directed.
  • Perform procedures as removal of sutures and staples, ear syringing and simple wound dressing.
  • Prepare examination rooms and assist Physicians during exams and procedures.
  • Document patient information accurately in the EMR (electronic medical records).
  • Provide health education to patients.
  • Assist Physicians with EMR tasks, forms.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned.
Qualifications
  • Current registration and good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS).
  • Completion of an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of primary care and chronic disease management (e.g., INR management, STI treatment) as per CRNS guidelines and employer-approved protocols.
  • Able to learn and use EMR systems (e.g., Accuro or equivalent), including documentation, lab review, and medication reconciliation.
  • Strong clinical judgement, interpersonal communication, and ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Proven ability to prioritize, manage caseloads, and maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • CPR certification (Basic Life Support BLS).
  • Experience in community health, case management, or a Primary Health Care setting is considered an asset.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to evidence-based practices.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Experience working with prenatal mothers and newborns.
  • Ability to work with clients/families utilizing a strength-based client focused approach to care and service delivery.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and the ability to function as part of a multidisciplinary team.
