Position: Regional Operations Leader

Description: P3 Veterinary Partners is seeking an experienced Regional Operations Leader (ROL) to join our dynamic and innovative team in a full-time capacity. This ROL role will be responsible for supporting hospital operations, patient care, client service, teamwork, and overall business functions of P3 veterinary hospitals in Ontario. We would like to invite candidates living anywhere within Ontario to apply as this is a remote position, with routine travel to P3 clinics required. Regional managers and leaders with experience in the veterinary industry, dentistry (dental), ophthalmology, physiotherapy, chiropractor, accounting, or a related professional service focused on customer service are encouraged to apply.

As a Regional Operations Leader at P3, you own overall responsibility for the performance and success of a group of hospitals, including patient care, client service, teamwork, and administration. Success comes from combining an understanding of clinical best practices with strong leadership that develops hospital leaders (Practice Managers and Medical/Facility Directors), enabling them to grow their teams and deliver excellent results. Challenges are viewed as opportunities, and even difficult conversations are approached with fairness and courage. Success in this role involves meeting regional goals and, more importantly, it’s about how leadership is practiced every day. Regional Operations Leaders lead with purpose, showing commitment, honesty, adaptability, and clear communication. They are strategic thinkers who work closely with hospital leaders to align decisions with long-term growth, community needs, and organizational priorities. They act quickly to ensure the right people are in the right seats, addressing underperformance or misalignment with fairness and clarity. Collaboration is also essential. Regional Operations Leaders embody a one-team approach, working alongside hospital leaders, and home office colleagues to build mutual respect and trust that extends across hospitals and into the broader community.

Regional Operations Leader – Accountabilities of Role

  1. Lead, Manage, and Accountability (L.M.A.)
    • Provide coaching, mentorship, and development for hospital leaders
    • Hold hospital leaders accountable for hospital performance, culture, and client experience
    • Set clear expectations, monitor progress, and ensure timely follow-up on commitments
    • Support hospital leaders in addressing underperformance and making difficult people decisions
    • Model fairness, collaboration, and consistency in leadership, set the standard for others
  2. Operational Excellence & Compliance
    • Guide hospital leaders in delivering efficient, profitable, and high-quality practices
    • Review and approve hospital business plans and budgets; ensure alignment with regional goals
    • Ensure hospital leaders oversee compliance with mandatory and voluntary accreditations, certifications, and policies
    • Monitor regional and hospital costs, scheduling, and resource utilization to ensure performance targets are met
  3. Client & Patient Experience
    • Complete regular hospital visits through the lens of a client to ensure the environment and facility demonstrate pride of place (both interior and exterior).
    • Work with the hospital leaders to identify and action areas needing improvement
    • Coach hospital leaders to deliver consistent, exceptional patient and client service
    • Support hospital leaders in resolving escalated client concerns with fairness and professionalism
    • Monitor regional reputation (reviews, surveys, NPS) and guide hospital leaders in improvements
    • Encourage hospital-level initiatives that strengthen community presence and client loyalty
    • Champion frameworks (Fear Free, AAHA, etc.) that enhance patient care and client experience
  4. Recruitment & Team Development
    • Consistently assess clinical leadership strength and drive timely change when necessary
    • Lead recruitment strategy for DVMs, PMs, and other hospital leadership positions
    • Partner with hospital leaders to build effective staffing plans aligned with growth and budget
    • Ensure leaders are actively networking and attracting top talent in their communities
    • Coach hospital leaders to build strong, engaged teams
    • Work with hospital leaders to ensure successful onboarding and team integration for new hires
    • Develop succession plans for hospital leadership roles to strengthen long-term stability
  5. Business Plans & Financial Acumen
    • Review KPIs and financial performance with hospital leaders and coach them on next steps to drive action plans
    • Ensure hospital hiring, scheduling, and compensation decisions align with budgets
    • Assess, approve or advise on major facility and equipment investments; evaluate ROI
    • Coach hospital leaders in understanding financial drivers and making data-informed decisions
    • Responsibly lead the PM on pricing structure and billing capture
    • Analyze the competitive landscape and guide hospitals in positioning for growth
  6. Innovation & Growth
    • Seek regional and hospital specific growth opportunities (services, patient visits, and market share)
    • Support hospital leaders in implementing revenue-capture strategies (reminders, diagnostics, forward booking)
    • Encourage adoption of new ideas that improve efficiency, care quality, or client service
    • Partner with home office to ensure hospitals meet regulatory, safety, and training standards
    • Champion continuous improvement and strategic change initiatives across hospitals
Experience Requirements
  • College or university degree in business, animal/veterinary science, operations management, project management, accounting, or marketing preferred (BSc, BComm, CPA, RVT, DVM)
  • Degree in Healthcare Administration, Hospital Management, DVM, or MBA an asset
  • Knowledge of veterinary practice management software, such as AVImark, preferred
  • Certified Veterinary Practice Management designation an asset
  • 3 years of experience in multi-facility operations with budget management and direct profit and loss responsibility and proven team oriented communicator with experience in effectively leading people preferred
