Job summary

Position Summary

As a core member of the Regional Management Team, you will influence strategy, shape culture, and lead safety and environmental excellence across the region. The role is based in Calgary and requires regular travel to McAsphalt plants, workshops, laboratories, offices, truck yards, and customer sites within the region.

As The Regional HSE Lead, You Will
  • Champion a Goal Zero culture, embedding prevention and accountability into daily operations
  • Translate corporate HSE strategy into practical, region-specific execution
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Regional Vice Presidents and leadership teams
  • Be a visible, field-based leader who connects people to purpose through Visible Felt leadership
Key Responsibilities
  • Align regional activities with Corporate HSE strategies, policies, standards, and mandates
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian occupational health, safety, and environmental legislation
  • Lead continuous improvement of HSE practices, procedures, and management systems
  • Develop, maintain, and update region-specific HSE policies, manuals, and controlled documents
  • Track, analyze, and share leading and lagging HSE performance indicators
  • Coordinate internal and external inspections, audits, and corrective actions
  • Lead incident management, investigations, root cause analysis, and lessons learned
  • Manage workers’ compensation claims, including modified work and return-to-work programs
  • Deliver targeted HSE training and leadership development initiatives
  • Provide technical HSE support for projects and maintenance activities
  • Act as the regional liaison for digital HSE platforms and systems of record

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or recognized diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive HSE experience in operational or industrial environments
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian federal and provincial HSE legislation
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation, or ability to obtain within the first year
  • Experience with workers’ compensation boards, claims management, and modified work programs
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills
  • High level of organization, analytical thinking, and to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital management platforms
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly within the region
  • English proficiency required; French required for East Region roles
Assets
  • CSP, Environmental Professional, ISO / COR Lead Auditor or similar certifications
