Job Title: Red Seal Machinist

Job Description

Join our dynamic team as a Red Seal Machinist, where you will have the opportunity to work with both manual and CNC machines, including unique large-scale CNC equipment not commonly found in regular CNC shops. You will be primarily involved in creating and repairing components related to the forestry and pulp/paper industry, utilizing your expertise in machining large parts with precision.

Responsibilities

• Operate both manual and CNC machines, including drilling lathes and large CNC equipment.
• Float between different machines as required by production needs.
• Program and set up CNC milling machines and lathes using Mastercam.
• Perform repair work on large equipment components, primarily for the forestry and pulp/paper industry.
• Work with 4-axis machines and handle setup operations.
• Ensure quality and precision in all machining tasks.

Essential Skills

• Red Seal certification.
• 3-5 years of machinist experience.
• Proficiency in programming and setup operations with Mastercam.
• Ability to operate large CNC machines, including vertical and horizontal boring mills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with Heiden Haim and FANUC control systems is an asset.
• Ability to operate Vertical Boring Mills & Horizontal Boring Mills, along with some lathe, milling, and drill press experience.
• CNC machining experience is preferred.

Work Environment

Work in a laid-back, team-oriented union shop with approximately 12 machinists and a mix of manual and CNC machines. The environment is low-pressure, focusing on quality rather than production speed. The shop operates primarily on day shifts, with 20% of work on afternoon shifts, allowing for a balanced work-life schedule.

The pay range for this position is $54000.00 - $67205.00/yr.
