Recovery Technician, Recycling and Waste Management Services

This role involves transporting, removing, delivering, and collecting various liquid and solid hazardous wastes from customer sites. The technician will load and unload trucks and operate various vehicles and equipment, including box trucks, within their license specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Oversee cargo handling, secure loads, and ensure safety compliance according to applicable acts and regulations.
  2. Work with government documents such as manifests.
  3. Perform vehicle trip inspections to ensure safety and roadworthiness.
  4. Comply with legislation regarding safe operation, carriage of goods, driver hours, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous goods, customs, and weights and dimensions.
  5. Operate trucks into loading/unloading positions, following signals and checking vehicle positions.
  6. Inspect vehicles before use and report any defects or incidents.
  7. Maintain accurate logs and documentation including driver logs, bills of lading, and manifests.
  8. Communicate effectively with customers, the public, and co-workers.
  9. Load and unload trucks, ensuring loads are secure.
  10. Deliver products and paperwork courteously and promptly.
  11. Clean up debris from loading/unloading activities.
  12. Provide feedback on operational issues and assist in training others.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. Certification from a recognized Truck Driving School and a valid Commercial Driver’s License (Class 1A preferred).
  3. Strong mechanical skills and ability to perform routine maintenance.
  4. Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.

  7. Ability to work outdoors and indoors, lift over 75 lbs, and work overtime/weekends as needed.
