Thrive Freeze Dry, a rapidly growing freeze-dried manufacturing company, is recruiting for an experienced Quality Technician for our Langley, BC location reporting to the Quality Supervisor. This opportunity is for the day shift and is primarily responsible for performing quality related written procedures and tasks to ensure food safety policies are adhered to and product quality standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-operational checks to ensure compliance with internal food safety standards.
- Inspect raw material receiving, including verifying condition, documentation, and regulatory requirements.
- Inspect cooler, freezer, and warehouse storage according to export and government regulations.
- Perform daily inspections of critical quality control points, including raw material temperature, kill-step validation, metal detector performance, bag sealing, labeling, and finished product specifications.
- Collect product sampling, testing, and environmental swabs.
- Utilize ERP (JustFood) to support seamless and accurate end-to-end process flows, from receiving to shipping.
- Assist with inspecting shipments in the warehouse.
- Conduct monthly and annual quality tasks such as facility walkabouts, light intensity checks, environmental swabbing, glass and brittle material inspections, mock recalls, and product traceability exercises.
- Report quality deviations of raw materials or finished products.
- Support QA during internal, second-party, and third-party audits.
- Monitor and support replenishment of PPEs, pallets, chemicals, sanitation tools, etc. when needed.
- Assist in onboarding and training of new employees on GMP, quality procedures, and inspection protocols.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor or diploma degree in food science, microbiology or related area.
- Minimum of one year quality control experience in a food industry, pharmaceutical or meat processing environment.
- Basic understanding of HACCP, GMP, and food safety.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with ERP systems.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
Physical Environment
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. regularly and perform tasks requiring kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting.
- Comfortable working in temperature-controlled, refrigerated, or chilled environments.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
