Job summary

Overview

ESSENTIAL PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:

The Quality Assurance Manager manages the overall quality and quality engineering functions for the plant. Interfaces with management, production supervision and engineering to assure highest quality products are being produced. Performs quality management assignments. Accountable for implementing and following division policies and programs for quality and ensuring implementation to meet division objectives, plant objectives and external requirements. Manages customer quality issues, manages quality system, collects, analyzes, distributes & manages quality data, uses statistical methods to analyze & present meaningful information to solve quality issues. Will lead cross-functional teams in solving quality issues using various tools including Six Sigma. Participates in all plant safety initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Determines quality improvement parameters by identifying statistical methods relevant to manufacturing processes.
  • Establishes statistical confidence by identifying sample size and acceptable error; determining levels of confidence.
  • Establishes statistical reliability by using mean time before failure, weibull 3-parameter distribution, reliability modeling, and reliability demonstration tests.
  • Develops experiments by applying full and fractional factorial techniques.
  • Develops sampling plans by applying attribute, variable, and sequential sampling methods.
  • Maintains statistical process controls by applying demerit/unit, zone charting, x2 charts for distributions and individual-medial/range for multistream processes.
  • Analyzes data by completing hypothesis, normal distribution, and process capability analysis tests.
  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data; making recommendations.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies; maintaining American society of quality control certified quality engineer qualification.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mathematics, Business, or other related field
  • Three to Five years of quality experience
  • Knowledge and familiarity with Six Sigma/Lean
Skills and Abilities Required
  • Experience in manufacturing environment
  • Proven ability to solve problems, trouble shoot equipment, and learn new skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use shop tools/equipment
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and general math skills important
  • Proficient in advanced use of statistical methods
