Job description
Overview

Our Quality Team is currently looking to add a Quality Inspector to our team, based in the Elora and Jarvis, ON area.

Reporting functionally to the Quality Manager, Substations, and operationally to the Project Manager, this position is responsible for managing Quality on Valard’s Elora and Hedley Battery Energy Storage Facility Construction sites. This includes inspecting electrical / civil installations, effectively implementing Valard’s Quality Program and Quality Management System, and compiling Progressive Turnover Packages.

Note: Candidates must reside around Elora or Jarvis, ON (Guelph / Kitchener / Brantford / Mississauga area), be able to travel regularly to Elora and / or Jarvis and must have a valid driver’s licence.

Responsibilities
  • Execute quality assurance and quality control activities on the project site
  • Follow Company Quality Manual, project specific Quality Plan and Inspection and Test Plans
  • Support all team members on Quality-related matters and ensure Valard meets the requirements of the applicable Contract, Client Standards, Provincial and Federal Regulations, and Code(s) of Construction
  • Liaise with cross-functional groups within Valard, as well as the designated client and sub‑contractor quality personnel on quality matters for the project
  • Review all full and partial assemblies / installations for completeness and conformance to IFC drawings and applicable specifications
  • Flag all deficiencies and monitor remedial actions
  • If able, repair minor deficiencies during inspections
  • Ensure identifying and tracking any damaged or material issues
  • Work with the materials coordinator (as applicable) to ensure nonconforming materials are repaired or replaced in accordance with IFC drawings
  • Maintain and manage the Master Punch List
  • Assemble the progressive turnover packages

Scope of inspections includes: Earthworks, Grounding, Site Drainage and Underground Work, Foundation Installation, Structural Steel Welding and Erection, Electrical Equipment Material and Installation, Cabling and Wiring, Control Building Construction, Fencing and Commissioning.

Mandatory Requirements
  • Must reside in the Elora or Jarvis, ON area (Guelph / Kitchener / Brantford / Mississauga area)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to start on or before September 22nd, 2025
  • Experience in : QA / QC (Quality Assurance / Quality Control) OR Construction and willing to learn QA / QC OR a recent university graduate in a technical field (BEng, BSC, etc., Electrical preferred) who wants to start a career with Valard
  • Any candidates who do not meet the above mandatory requirements will not be considered for the next steps in this selection
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience monitoring civil, structural, and electrical installations
  • Concrete, piling and earthworks experience
  • Apprenticeship program or other certifications (such as CET, EIT, particularly in an Electrical related field)
  • Strong background in reading and interpreting technical documents such as engineering codes, standards, specifications, construction drawings and other related documentation
  • Power systems experience (Distribution, Substation, and / or Transmission)
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook) as well as Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience using BlueBeam Revu, SharePoint
