Job description
Job Summary

This hybrid outside sales role focuses on building and expanding relationships with public sector clients across Ontario. The position uses a consultative approach to drive sales, retain existing accounts and secure favorable contracts. Acting as a trusted representative for municipalities and community stakeholders the role supports the needs of the municipalities as well as the works with internal operations. Assists in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with WM's operations in cities, city groups, and other entities to ensure that contracts are executed as intended. Travel within Ontario is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Contract Management: Oversee existing contracts including relationship maintenance, terms, service offerings, pricing, extensions and compliance.
  • Customer & Community Engagement: Maintain strong customer relationships through public events, City council meetings and outreach programs. Conduct community educational and informational sessions as required.
  • Sales Growth: use available tools to identify prospects, make calls and conduct meetings to influence bids and expand WM’s market share.
  • Cross -Functional Coordination: Work collaboratively with other internal teams to meet service and contract expectations.
  • Strategic Development: Create strategies to strengthen/deepen service offerings and increase WM’s market share, and shape RFP’s to align with WM’s value propositions.
  • Revenue Optimization: Collaborate with the contract compliance manager to ensure contract audit and revenue acceleration tools have been utilized to maximize renewals and growth opportunities.
  • Community Partnerships: Develop community partnerships with elected officials and key community stakeholders to generate positive publicity and community impact.
  • Bid Management: Lead bid responses, including pricing analysis, reporting and required documentation in a timely and efficient manner to ensure competitive bids are submitted on WM’s behalf.
  • Marketing & Retention: Develop marketing strategies that identify retention and growth opportunities that include supporting strategies, with clear timelines and resources.
  • Continuous Learning: Participate in ongoing company training to enhance skills.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Communications, Political Science, or Economics, or five or more years of previous applicable experience in government relations, outside sales, public service, or related field.
  • 5 years or more of previous applicable experience.
  • Proven ability to manage contracts, influence bids, and build strong partnerships with public sector entities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Communications, Political Science, or Economics, or similar area of study, and five or more years of previous applicable experience.
  • Experience with CRM software (Salesforce), MS Office and Teams.
