Overview

The Public Protection Service has an excellent opportunity to join our service as Team Leader. This is a key post working as part of NHS GGC Public Protection Service to promote a high quality, safe and effective service to protect unborn babies, children, young people and adults.

We are seeking candidates who will be flexible and adaptable in meeting the evolving needs of service users in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment. This is an opportunity to work within a progressive team who have been recent finalists for the RCN Scotland team of the year for their innovative work. The Public Protection Service provides advice, support and guidance to staff in NHS GGC on matters relating to Child and Adult Protection and is currently expanding its services in Adult Support and Protection.

Role and Team

The post holder will provide clinical leadership, specialist professional advice and support and Case Supervision to a wide range of staff. You will be committed to working collaboratively across professions and agencies and be able to make evidence based decisions. The post holder will work as part of a team consisting of Chief Nurse and Head of Public Protection Service, Public Protection Lead Nurse (CP), Public Protection Lead Nurse (AP), Public Protection Nurse Advisors, Public Protection Medical Lead, Lead Paediatrician for Child Protection, and Administration Staff. The team is based at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital site, however, Public Protection training and specialist Clinical Supervision is carried out at sites across GGC.

The post holder is required to be a Registered Nurse or Midwife, with a first level degree and a minimum of five years post qualification experience.

The post holder will require to have a post qualifying academic qualification in Child Protection and/or Adult Support and Protection, or currently being undertaken, or have evidence of relevant experience.

You should have substantial experience in working with children, young people, their families and/or vulnerable adults with previous clinical experience and understanding of Child Protection.

An in-depth knowledge of policy and legislation that guides contemporary child and/or adult support and protection practice, with recent experience of the application of this practice is essential.

A willingness to undertake further study will be required if education/experience not available in both fields.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Registered Nurse or Midwife with a first level degree and a minimum of five years post qualification experience.
  • Post qualifying academic qualification in Child Protection and/or Adult Support and Protection, or currently being undertaken, or evidence of relevant experience.
  • Substantial experience in working with children, young people, their families and/or vulnerable adults; clinical experience and understanding of Child Protection.
  • In-depth knowledge of policy and legislation guiding contemporary child and/or adult protection practice with recent application experience.
  • Willingness to undertake further study if needed.
