Position Summary

Are you passionate about leading high-impact operations that support groundbreaking research and real-world mental health outcomes? Join us as our new PTSS Operations Manager!

The Psychological Trauma and Stress Systems (PTSS) lab is a team located at the University of Regina within the Faculty of Arts. The PTSS lab is led by Dr. R. Nicholas Carleton, a clinical psychologist and expert of psychological trauma in Canadian public safety personnel (PSP). The PTSS lab team is dedicated to helping PSP thrive and backed by clinicians, researchers, and operational staff who provide evidence-informed lifesaving solutions to reduce the impacts of trauma and stress.

This position works closely with the PTSS lab Principal Investigator, Senior Project Director, and Project Manager(s), Faculty of Arts Director (Finance and Administration), and the Associate Dean (Research and Graduate) of Arts to ensure the operational plans and targeted benchmarks are identified and progress and/or issues are brought forward to the PTSS lab leadership team for advisement. The position will manage operations team members (business analyst, help desk analysts, admin assistant) and research team members (research associates, research assistants, and postdocs) and will also provide guidance and support for faculty/graduate students from across the University.

  • Maintain effective and efficient leadership through the coordination and development of programs, policies, procedures, and business infrastructures.
  • Support the PTSS Lab’s role as a trusted and recognized source of mental health expertise for first responders and public safety personnel (PSP).
  • Oversee the development and implementation of evidence-informed tools designed to:
    • Assess the impact of ongoing assessments (e.g., social experiences, biometrics, mental health).
    • Provide access to screening tools and referral sources.
    • Support physiological monitoring for early detection of stress and trauma impacts.
  • Lead the development, management, and reporting of the lab’s budget and human resource processes and activities.

Position Requirements

  • Must have experience managing and supervising staff by providing supervision, training, mentoring, evaluation, and supporting staff.
  • Experience with assisting with budgets in coordination with PTSS Lab’s and Faculty of Arts leadership team.
  • Demonstrated understanding of applicable University research and government regulations.Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex issues to diverse audiences from students to administrators.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage a team to support the objectives of the PTSS lab. Strong and broad knowledge of IT practices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including influencing and problem-solving skills with an emphasis on the ability to establish collaborative relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fluid work environment.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks concurrently in a high-volume environment, apply continuous improvement principles and meet deadlines without compromising standards of service and quality.
  • Demonstrated experience with complex budget management.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing in a matrix environment.
  • Knowledge of general human resources management principles and university Human Resources policy and guidelines with APT and CUPE contractual agreements.
  • Knowledge of recruitment practices, interviewing, selection of new staff, training and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Knowledge of campus wide technology and software including Banner, E-Recruitment, Caspur, FAST, Cascade Server.
  • Knowledge of project management methodology to design, plan, initiate, organize and direct projects tasks to implement programs and service.
  • Ability to create an atmosphere of continual improvement by clearly articulating goals of the office, the value of the services provided.
Physical Demands

Pay Grade APT 5
Salary Range $71,745 - $96,825 Annually
