POSITION SUMMARY
Our client is a leading global Pediatric Health organization with over 400 staff and physicians dedicated to helping children and youth live their best lives. They are currently seeking a Psychologist for the Mental Health Acute Care Service. The Psychologist will be part of an interdisciplinary team providing services to children, youth, and caregivers with significant mental health needs.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Provides psychodiagnostics and psychological assessments, and contributes to case conceptualization. Offers therapeutic interventions to individuals and groups using empirically-supported modalities, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Emotion Focused Skills Training (EFST).
- Provides time-limited care post-discharge focused on safety and brief therapeutic interventions as appropriate.
- Offers consultation/liaison services within the multidisciplinary pediatric healthcare environment and with community professionals.
- Participates in interdisciplinary team rounds and treatment planning.
- Contributes to and facilitates interprofessional practice.
- Engages in program development, evaluation, outcome monitoring, and clinical research activities.
- Provides training and education to Psychology residents and practicum students.
- Maintains current knowledge of evidence-based practices through literature reviews, consulting with experts, and professional development activities to enhance quality of care.
- Performs administrative tasks, including maintaining clinical documentation, reports, progress notes, workload statistics, and updating health records in accordance with standards.
- Participates in discipline-specific committees.
- Carries out other responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)
- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from a CPA or APA accredited university program (Essential)
- Registration or eligibility for registration as a Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario (Essential)
- Designated area of practice in Clinical Psychology with Children and Adolescents (Essential)
- Experience with assessment and treatment of children and youth with severe and complex mental health difficulties (Essential)
- Experience with acute inpatient mental health services (Preferred)
- Experience with group interventions (Preferred)
- Ability to work effectively in a high-paced interdisciplinary team (Essential)
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with healthcare professionals (Essential)
- Bilingual in French and English (Essential). If no bilingual candidates meet qualifications, unilingual candidates may be considered in accordance with the French Language Services Plan.
