Job summary

A regional health authority in British Columbia is looking for a Protection Services Officer to maintain security and enforce safety protocols. Ideal candidates should have completed relevant security training, possess a valid B.C. Security Guard License, and demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills. This position may require travel and operating a motor vehicle.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of recognized Basic and Advanced Security Training certification.
  • Holds a valid B.C. Security Guard License with applicable handcuff endorsement.
  • One year of recent related experience or equivalent education.

Overview

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Travel may be a requirement of this position. If applicable, transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and the incumbent must be able to operate a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Team Leader, Protection Services, the Protection Services Officer maintains and enforces security of persons and property in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Grade 12, successful completion of recognized Basic and Advanced Security Training certification, Intermediate First Aid (formerly OFA Level 2) plus one year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Holds a valid B.C. Security Guard License with applicable handcuff endorsement. Valid Class 5 BC Driver\'s License.
