Status: Temporary Part Time (January 2026 – June 2027)

Hours: Up to 24 hours/week

Home Campus: Fennell (hybrid work arrangements available)

Rate of Pay: $24.09 per hour, plus 4% in lieu of vacation

Job Summary

The Project Specialist contributes to the development and growth of the Centre for Entrepreneurship by being the lead for our website and social media channels. The Project Specialist contributes to our team through being a key player in Centre events and programming.

What you’ll be doing:
Administrative/Event Management Duties
  • Researching processes, methodology, tools, and best practices to support the growth of entrepreneurship activities, programming and curriculum created through the Centre for Entrepreneurship and its Micro-Centres.
  • Supports events and programming through being a lead on event registration, internal and external logistics, and event support.
  • Provide day‑to‑day administrative support to the Centre for Entrepreneurship, including scheduling, email communication, document preparation, and data entry.
  • Assist with tracking program participation, maintaining databases, and organizing departmental files.
Workshop/Classroom Support
  • Conduct classroom visits across campuses to deliver entrepreneurship‑focused workshops, presentations, and awareness sessions.
  • Facilitate engaging activities that introduce students to innovation, side hustles, freelancing, and campus resources.
  • Build relationships with faculty and promote collaboration opportunities for integrating entrepreneurship into coursework.
  • Gather feedback from students and instructors to support continuous improvement of workshop content.
  • Serve as a Centre for Entrepreneurship representative at campus events, resource fairs, and student engagement activations.
Communication, Marketing and Outreach
  • Marketing and promoting The Centre for Entrepreneurship and its various micro‑centres through various digital channels.
  • Develop social media content for all micro‑centres and The Centre for Entrepreneurship.
  • Performing outreach activities to promote and engage with members of the Hamilton/Halton community.
  • Ensure content is written to the appropriate audience communication best practices.

What you’ll bring to the role:
  • Completion of a three‑year college diploma or university degree in marketing, communications, business administration, or a related field.
  • Three years of related work experience.
  • Lead vision of accessible and inclusive customer journeys and/or interactions across functions – websites and modules. Strong interpersonal skills and an exceptional empathetic listener when working with end‑users.
  • Strong understanding of content development creation which includes writing for inclusion – plain language and inclusive terminology. Working knowledge of accessible media training is an asset.
  • Proficiency with Windows 10, Mobile OS (iOS, Android), MS Office 2013+ applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint), Accessibility Testing Tools, Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Foundational knowledge and practical experience in marketing, including social media content creation, event promotion, and audience engagement strategies.
  • Proficient in promotional tools such as social media platforms, email marketing, and market research techniques.
  • Ability to deliver presentations and facilitate interactive workshops, with strong public speaking skills and confidence engaging diverse student audiences across multiple campuses.
  • Contribute to the creation and review of marketing and educational content, providing input and recommendations to ensure alignment with the Centre’s goals.
  • Skilled in design tools such as Canva for creating visually appealing content.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities, with a proven ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Capable of supporting scheduling, meeting preparation, and general office administration.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely with minimal supervision.
  • Creative mindset with a focus on innovative solutions and engaging content.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to convey ideas and information in written, visual, and spoken formats.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) considered an asset.
  • Incumbent should have exceptional writing skills (plain language, inclusive language/terminology), demonstrated ability to work independently, showing initiative and good judgement, and also have the ability to work cooperatively and be an effective team member.
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
