Location: This position is eligible for a hybrid work model. When attending an event or meeting in person, your primary office location will be based out of 1340 Brant Street, Burlington, Ontario. Work location is subject to change at the discretion of the City due to operational demands. Effective January 2026 this role will be required to be on site 50% of the time each month.
This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing traffic signal and electrical infrastructure programs, ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of traffic signals. As the City’s transportation network continues to grow, this position will provide leadership in traffic signal program development, asset management, and partner coordination to improve mobility and safety.
You have a diploma/degree in Transportation Engineering Technology or equivalent. Certification with OACETT (C.E.T.) is an asset. This is complemented by four (4) to seven (7) years of relevant experience. Supervising staff is an asset.
To be successful in this role, you have proven project management skills and feel comfortable with technology systems. Your ability to communicate effectively allows you to interact well with others and provide excellent customer service. You are well‑organized and excel at problem‑solving.
You will be required to attend sites that may include heavy traffic, particularly when urgent/unplanned response is required. Weather and site conditions can be a hinderance. Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and is always required when working in the field.
A valid Class G driver’s licence is required with an acceptable driver’s abstract (no more than three (3) driving related convictions or an accumulation of no more than three (3) demerit points in the previous three (3) years prior to the date of hire). You may have access to a City‑owned vehicle but may need to provide own transportation from time to time.
