WithersRavenel is recruiting a Project Manager to join our Powells Point team! In this role you will be responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of residential public and private site-civil infrastructure projects in a new geographic market and in other geographic markets as needed. You will manage the full project lifecycle, from initial planning and design through to construction and handover, ensuring alignment with company objectives, client expectations, and local regulations. You will coordinate with cross-office teams, providing leadership and ensuring effective project execution. You will help with project development and collaboration across all of our Practices and across any of our geographies.
This is a hybrid role working out of our Powells Point, NC office where employees and supervisors collaborate to establish an in- and out-of-office schedule that “works” for all involved.
Key Responsibilities
Project/Business Planning & Coordination:
- Develop and collaborate on a business plan and associated Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for residential public and private Site-Civil markets in the targeted geographic market.
- Assist with Business and Client Development within and outside the geographic market to achieve goals in the targeted geographic market.
- Collaborate with local and company stakeholders optimizing clients.
- Develop and collaborate on detailed project plans that include timelines, resources, budgets, and project scope for residential public and private Site-Civil projects.
- Establish and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) and milestones for each project.
- Coordinate with internal teams (design, engineering, construction) and external stakeholders (clients, contractors, local authorities).
- Provide guidance to ensure project plans meet the unique requirements of the new market, ensuring compliance with local regulations and practices.
Stakeholder Management:
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients, contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Facilitate communication between different offices and teams located in other offices.
- Provide regular updates on project progress, challenges, and milestones to internal leadership and clients.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local and State regulatory agencies, clients, and other community stakeholders.
Resource and Budget Management:
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost efficiency and value add, proper resource allocation, and adherence to financial constraints.
- Ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to client specifications.
- Coordinate resources and expertise effectively to assist balancing workload among team members and cross-office staff.
Risk Management:
- Identify and report potential risks early on and develop mitigation strategies for cost overruns, delays, or other project-related issues.
- Follow WR process for claims, risk documentation.
Collaboration & Cross-Office Coordination:
- Act as the liaison between offices in different locations, ensuring consistent communication, alignment of goals, and project milestones.
- Act as a liaison between business development staff and project teams.
- Facilitate the sharing of best practices, lessons learned, and resources between project teams across various locations.
- Lead virtual or in-person meetings with cross-office teams, clients, and external consultants to ensure smooth project execution.
Quality Control & Compliance:
- Ensure the quality of deliverables and services meets the company's standards and client expectations.
- Oversee the compliance of all work with local zoning, environmental, and construction codes.
- Ensure that all design and construction work comply with both industry standards and client requirements.
Team Leadership & Mentoring:
- Lead, motivate, and mentor project teams, including junior project managers, engineers, and other technical staff.
- Foster a collaborative, solution-oriented environment across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Encourage continuous improvement and learning within the team to develop project management and technical expertise.

Requirements
Required Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience
Project Management Expertise:
- Proven experience managing residential, site-civil, and public projects from concept to completion.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies and ability to adapt to WR specific methodologies and standards.
- Expertise in resource allocation, budget tracking, and risk management.
Cross-Office Communication:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with teams across multiple offices and geographic locations.
- Ability to effectively navigate regional and practice area differences when working with teams and stakeholders.
Technical Knowledge in AE Industry:
- In-depth understanding of residential, site-civil, and public projects.
- Familiarity with local regulations and codes for the new market.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations, sustainability practices, and public policy requirements relevant to projects.
Problem-Solving & Decision-Making:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify challenges and make informed decisions quickly.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under pressure, especially in a fast-paced and changing environment.
Leadership and Team Management:
- Proven ability to lead diverse, hybrid teams in different geographies, motivating them towards successful project delivery.
- Ability to delegate effectively and manage a combination of in-office and remote team members.
Software Proficiency:
- Proficiency in working with project management tools.
- Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) software and design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.
- Comfortable using cloud-based collaboration tools for remote team coordination (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Bluebeam, etc.).
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in Market:
- Previous experience working in or leading projects in the market.
- Professional Certifications:
- Professional Engineer in the state of NC and/or other states depending on location.
