BGC Okanagan is hiring a part-time Program Leader to support our School Aged Programs at the Mission Hill Club, Vernon. It’s the best place for kids to be when the bell rings! For over 60 years, we’ve been creating safe, engaging spaces where children can play, create, and connect after school.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and participate in quality and diverse recreational, social, and/or educational programming.
  • Provide direct supervision of members, and ensure their health, safety, and wellness.
  • Mentor, guide and lead Activity Leaders within the program and activities.
  • Build relationships with the children, youth, and families within their designated programs. Establish open communication with parents/caregivers.
  • Use Club vans to pick up members from school and transport to various sites if required.
  • Prepare nutritious snacks and meals for members.
  • Provide group and/or individual behavior management and support.
  • Ensure Agency Policies and Procedures, Program Operating Standards, WCB standards, Community Care Licensing Regulations, Risk Management requirements and general safety standards are met.
Qualifications
  • Education in childcare and/or experience planning, implementing and evaluating childcare programs.
  • First Aid Certificate and Food Safe or willingness to obtain
  • Class 5 Driver’s License and/or willingness to obtain Class 4 DL as soon as possible for some roles
  • Must be at least 19 years of age as per licensing requirements
  • Successful completion of Agency screening including a Criminal Record Check

Hours: 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm with the possibility of additional hours during school closures.

Rate of Pay: $20.41 per hour plus shared benefits
