Job Overview

Our Product Engineering (PE) team is seeking a Product Tech Specialist to join the Drive Group, specializing in Suspension and Brake systems. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the development, testing, and maturation of mechanical systems for new vehicle models through Mass Production (MP).

Key responsibilities include leading investigations into problems, performing root cause analysis, developing and validating countermeasures, and conducting final testing. You will also recommend design changes, propose product improvements, and address in-house warranty concerns as they arise.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in automotive systems and components, supported by both education and hands-on experience, and will thrive in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.

Work Schedule
  • Day shift with available overtime and weekend work, and shutdown support
Key Responsibilities
  • Support new model design activities and confirm design changes to ensure performance, quality, and production readiness
  • Lead complex design investigations for both new model development and Mass Production issues.
  • Analyze market warranty claims, implement containment actions, and develop effective countermeasures.
  • Conduct dynamic vehicle testing to verify that design and quality targets are achieved.
  • Act as a technical liaison between Honda of Canada Manufacturing (HCM), Honda Canada, and R&D organizations.
  • Compile and analyze data, identify trends, and interpret vehicle problem information to drive countermeasure activities.
  • Prepare and deliver technical reports, test documentation, and presentations to stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Completion of a post‑secondary technical diploma or degree, or a minimum of three (3) years of equivalent, relevant work experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, including use of advanced functions such as VLOOKUP, PivotTables, data management, and professional formatting.
Preferred Experience
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical problems using precision measurement tools (e.g., vernier calipers, bore gauges, microscopes, shadow graphs).
  • Excellent organizational skills - with the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven quantitative and analytical problem-solving skills, supporting data-driven decision-making.
  • Experience managing projects and assignments, including defining objectives, allocating resources, and determining effective technical approaches.
  • Proficiency with CAD software for mechanical design, interpretation, and analysis (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Working knowledge of Quality Control tools, including Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting automotive mechanical and electrical systems, including high-voltage systems and vehicle communication networks, using appropriate hand tools and diagnostic software.
  • Understanding of vehicle communication theory and related diagnostic and monitoring systems.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Experience preparing and delivering technical presentations and written reports.
  • Familiarity with test equipment and software for NVH analysis, data acquisition, load cell measurement, torque analysis, and powertrain system evaluation.
