Some of what you will do:

The Product Manager, Checkout, Payments & Fraud is responsible for supporting the Senior Product Manager in executing the roadmap for checkout optimization, payment systems, and fraud prevention on Staples.ca and StaplesPreferred.ca. This individual will act as the voice of the customer and ensure that every initiative balances business goals with delivering a secure, seamless, and best‑in‑class checkout experience. This role focuses on building a robust, customer‑first, data‑driven product backlog and driving delivery from conception to launch. The individual will research industry trends, analyze customer behavior, and continuously modernize our checkout and payment experience while enhancing fraud prevention capabilities. They will define what customers need and collaborate on how to deliver it effectively. The Product Manager will partner with engineers, UX designers, analysts, fraud specialists, payment gateway providers, and key decision makers across the organization to lead the execution of all product initiatives within their domain.

Specifically, You Will:
  • Assist in building and executing a data‑driven roadmap for checkout, payments, and fraud prevention.
  • Define KPIs for payment success, checkout conversion, and fraud loss reduction; analyze results and iterate on the roadmap.
  • Develop product artifacts such as future‑state vision, journey maps, and business cases to gain stakeholder buy‑in.
  • Collaborate with UX, analytics, and engineering teams to ensure timely and on‑budget delivery.
  • Drive initiatives to optimize checkout flow and improve customer experience.
  • Write and prioritize epics and user stories for Agile teams.
  • Manage cross‑functional relationships and communication with Finance, Fraud, and Technology teams.
  • Provide routine, transparent product updates to executive stakeholders.
  • Stay informed on industry trends in payments, fraud prevention, and checkout optimization.
  • Adapt to changes in direction and priority in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
Some of what you need:
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent (MBA an asset).
  • Agile certification (asset).
  • 5+ years in Product Management (eCommerce preferred).
  • Hands‑on exposure to Payments, Checkout, Finance, or Fraud systems.
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum delivery practices.
  • Proven success in cross‑functional collaboration and project management.
  • Understanding payment gateways, fraud detection tools, and checkout optimization.
  • Strong analytical, data‑driven decision‑making and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to navigate large organizations and build strong partnerships.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with product roadmapping tools, APIs, and cloud technologies.
