About The Role

MatchBox Consulting, on behalf of their manufacturing client, is searching for a Procurement Specialist. This role supports the procurement of goods and services across multiple cement terminals, with responsibilities divided between the Richmond location and other regional sites. The position includes executing contracts, supporting category strategies, coordinating warehouse activities, tracking supplier performance, and managing the full RFx process. The Procurement Specialist plays a key role in identifying cost savings, improving processes, and delivering strong internal customer service while working closely with the Procurement Manager, Category Managers, and site leadership.

Travel Requirements

Approximately 10%.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate procurement activities according to category strategies, policies, and specifications.
  • Support the identification and delivery of cost savings, efficiency gains, quality improvements, and process enhancements.
  • Assist with inventory and warehouse management at the Richmond cement operation.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with site operational teams and vendor partners.
  • Partner with local management to anticipate procurement needs and ensure cost-effective sourcing.
  • Drive improvements in warehouse and inventory processes.
  • Provide coverage for the Warehouse Supervisor as needed.
  • Negotiate goods and services in alignment with lowest total cost of ownership principles.
  • Lead RFx processes in accordance with procurement guidelines.
  • Draft contracts and agreements using approved templates under the guidance of the Procurement Manager.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Engineering, or related discipline preferred).
  • 2–5 years of procurement experience, including exposure to supply chain management, strategic sourcing, and procurement best practices.
  • Strong Excel proficiency.
  • Experience with eRFQ/eAuction tools and SAP considered an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication across technical and operational levels.
  • Effective planning, prioritization, and time management abilities.
  • Ability to manage competing tasks in fast-paced or ambiguous environments.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism in conflict or challenging situations.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and proper use of PPE, including respirators when required.
