Job Description

PURPOSE:
Sets up, programs, and operates CNC Press Break machines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Operates forklifts, overhead cranes, and hoists.
• Programs CNC controls using information provided on prints.
• Assists with quoting department for capabilities, limitations, and timelines.
• Verifies that materials are proper type and dimension prior to bending.
• Sets up and operates equipment following all safety guidelines.
• Calculates blank sizes, bend locations, appropriate tonnage, and tooling for each part being formed.
• Utilizes work orders and QC packets to complete work accurately.
• Detects equipment malfunctions or out-of-tolerance components and adjusts machine within capabilities. Reports all machine malfunctions to maintenance/management.
• Reads, interprets, and utilizes blueprints.
• Verifies accuracy of machine settings to confirm accurate tolerances and functions.
• Ensures quality checks are completed prior to sending parts to the next operation.
• Verifies work using measurement tools (tape measure, caliper, micrometer).
• Maintains tight tolerances as required by engineering and customer specifications.
• Confers with engineers, production personnel, or supervisors to resolve problems.
• Responsible for ensuring press dies and punches are maintained and kept clean of debris and scarring.
• Supports the quality system and procedures for continuous improvement.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Ensure press dies and punches are maintained and kept clean.
• Calculate blank sizes, bend locations, tonnage, and tooling for each part.
• Make suggestions for product and process improvements.
• Maintain tight tolerances per engineering and customer specifications.
