Job Description

The Porter is responsible for the set-up and tear down of the venue. This could be before, during and after our events. This involves moving and placing such as tables, chairs, decorations and any other items the event may require. The porter is accountable and responsible for maintaining the organization and upkeep of the event venue. This can be during business and non-business hours, with start times as early as 6am, and end times as late as 3am (overnight shifts will also be required). In addition, the porter will work together with the servers to ensure overall venue success, whether that means helping with server duties, and vice versa.

The Day to Day
  • Prepare and set up venue according to set plan and client requests, ensuring that every detail both large & small are met
  • If required, ensure that the venue is 100% set for the next event if you are the last person / team to leave before a breakfast event
  • Lead other staff members to ensure that the setup is being done efficiently & effectively
  • Lift and move both heavy and light objects in a safe and timely manner
  • Tear down of venue after an event and ensure it is clear and maintained to O&B standards
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of venue
  • Comply with and act in accordance with Health and Safety regulations
  • Receive and sign off on materials and shipments from clients and couriers, and let a manager know each time
  • Meet, Greet and escort clients from the loading dock, offering assistance were necessary
  • Additional duties as assigned or required
Qualifications
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a variable work load, ensuring safe, timely and accurate completion of assigned work
  • Able to work independently, and part of a team
  • Able to listen and follow clear directions
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs
  • Available to work mornings, evenings, weekends and / or occasional overnight shifts
  • Dependable and Goal oriented
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
