Position Overview
The Police Services Watch Clerk provides operational and administrative support to a Watch Commander at Police Services. The incumbent covers other Police Services positions such as Police Services Clerk and Police Services Records Clerk.
Duties
- Assists the Watch Commander by screening calls, reviewing and tracking various action items requiring attention or follow-up and notifying the Watch Commander in a timely fashion.
- Receives, records, responds to and distributes incoming correspondence, information and public complaints; provides general information to the public; refers files to RCMP members for necessary action and tracks follow‑up.
- Transcribes files, creates, inputs and retrieves information on various police computerized databases; updates and maintains internal records in support of RCMP operations.
- Communicates information from police databases to both field RCMP members and other authorized police agencies. Ensures the accuracy and integrity of all documents and databases; conforms to RCMP and Police Services standards and procedures.
- Manages the equipment room and its contents, ensuring equipment is properly signed in/out using the Equipment Tracker Program.
- Updates, produces and forwards a variety of reports required during the watch.
- Assists in the preparation of the documentation required to obtain search warrants and in‑custody information and other court‑related documents.
- Transfers and prints photographs from cameras and card readers.
- Monitors video surveillance cameras; reports suspected criminal activity in progress, in accordance with RCMP procedures.
- Transcribes witness, victim or warning statements and other urgent word‑processing.

Pay Rate
$31.81 plus 14% in lieu of vacations, benefits and statutory holidays.
