Job description

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The primary function of this position is to oversee and ensure the proper operation of plant production facilities.

Responsibilities:
  1. Operates plant: Operates vacuum separation adsorption (VSA). Ensures safe start-up, operation, and shut-down of plant operations. Ensures compliance with procedures established by the Air Liquide Canada/AMG management system. Carries out tests to verify plant performance, as required.
  2. Ensures equipment maintenance: Makes recommendations to supervisor based on observations of equipment operation. Ensures periodic monitoring of equipment. Familiar with properties of industrial gases and cleaning methods for oxygen service. Supervises subcontractors as needed. Responds to equipment breakdowns. Undertakes small maintenance projects according to skills and with supervisor's approval.
  3. Safety/Quality: Respects the wearing of protective equipment. Pays particular attention to lock-out procedures and confined space access. Participates in maintaining plant emergency procedures. Acts as first responder in emergency situations and initiates appropriate communications. Reports safety issues to supervisor. Knows and complies with all procedures in the plant's Quality Manual.
  4. Administrative follow-up: Completes and forwards all incident reports. Completes daily production data reports in the system and required plant statements.
  5. Process improvement: Works with team and cross-functional teams to continuously improve work processes. Analyzes activities, identifies causes of problems, and proposes appropriate corrective actions.

  • Training: Quality system (ISO)
  • Knowledge: Compressed and cryogenic gases, computerized systems, MS Office, communication skills, mathematical skills, WHMIS, handling and transportation of hazardous materials. Knowledge of air separation process and refrigeration is an asset.
