Job summary

A healthcare provider in Ontario is looking for a Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) for a Long Term Care client in Prescott. The assistant will work under the supervision of a Physiotherapist, assisting with exercises, documenting progress, and ensuring residents meet their treatment goals. Qualifications include being a PTA graduate, communication skills, and experience in Long Term Care. The role requires working 37.5 hours a week, with specific health checks and a vehicle access requirement. Only qualified applicants will be contacted.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a Long Term Care or Retirement home is required.
  • Current police check for the Vulnerable Sector is required.
  • Valid 2 STEP TB Test and/or Chest X-ray is required.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle and valid drivers license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with conducting group exercises for residents.
  • Encourage residents to reach the goals of their planned treatment programs.
  • Document treatments and residents' progress after each therapy session.
  • Assist residents with walking, sitting, and safe transferring.
  • Monitor any changes to a resident’s health status and report to the Physiotherapist.
  • Perform treatments such as applying an ice pack or hot pack.

Ability to communicate well with the elderly
