Anticipated Shift: Days, Monday to Friday

Daily Hours Worked: 7.75 hrs

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible and accountable for the function, development and direction of Pharmacy Services in accordance with current federal and provincial standards, guidelines and regulations. Primary responsibilities relate to planning, organizing, directing, controlling, evaluating, developing policy and communicating. As a member of the healthcare team, provides effective pharmaceutical services and ensures that these services are utilized appropriately, in accordance with the mission, philosophy, goals and by-laws of the Northern Health Region (NHR).

The incumbent must fulfill the requirements of the Criminal Records/ Vulnerable Person, Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check, and adhere to all Northern Health Region policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science (Pharmacy) or equivalent from a recognized university
  • Completion of a hospital residency program or orientation to the specialized functions of a hospital pharmacy
  • Licensed, or eligibility for licensure as a pharmacist with the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba
  • Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada Certification
  • Valid Class V Manitoba Driver’s License with access to a vehicle and willingness to travel the region year round
  • Two (2) years’ supervisory/management experience
  • Two (2) years’ comprehensive experience related to the position
  • Working knowledge of Windows based programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Internet
  • Demonstrates commitment to maintaining own professional and educational competencies
  • Demonstrates current knowledge of clinical practice and trends in pharmacy management
  • Demonstrates responsibility to stakeholders in management of a regional pharmacy service
  • Successful candidate subject to provide security checks in accordance with Security Checks for Employment Policy (HR-02-80). Waived for internal candidates with current checks on file.
