Qualifications

Your Opportunity

The Adult Community Services Spruce Grove, Leduc, and Sherwood Park provides a wide range of addiction and mental health treatment to the residents of the City of Edmonton and surrounding suburban areas. The ACS program adheres to the Edmonton Zone Addiction & Mental Health Principles of Care, providing quality, client focused, recovery based, concurrent capable, culturally appropriate care to those seeking supports / services within Addictions and Mental Health. Services are offered to clients and their families in the least intrusive and most appropriate manner, and include assessment, individual and group treatment, and consultation. Interventions may be done in the clinic, community, or in a client’s home, dependent on the identified needs. The Family Peer Support Worker functions in the context of a multidisciplinary team, providing intervention and support complementary to the work of addiction and mental health providers by providing emotional and social support to others who share a common experience. Through their own lived experience(s) supporting a loved one with an addiction and / or mental health concern, the Family Peer Support Worker can authentically inspire hope and demonstrate the possibility of recovery. The Family Peer Support Worker will provide services within their scope of practice, liaise, and collaborate with other team members to improve outcomes for individuals and their families. The Family Peer Support Worker will bring families / friends and systems together to enhance service provisions and find solutions where challenges may exist. The Family Peer Support Worker will provide services to families / friends of clients receiving services in the Spruce Grove, Sherwood Park, and Leduc Adult Community Services Clinics.

Description

As a Peer Support Worker, you will provide interventions and supports that are complementary to the work of a multi-disciplinary outreach team. The team functions together to provide treatment, rehabilitation and support services for the diverse needs of clients navigating life impacting experiences. Through your own lived experience(s), and experiences of recovery and resilience, as the Peer Support Worker, you can authentically inspire hope to clients by sharing your story, offering mentorship and support; advocating for client needs; and supporting an integrated and resiliency / recovery-oriented health care and treatment experience.

  • Ability to work well in a team and seek consultation when necessary
  • Must be able to tolerate regular twisting and reaching, repetitive hand movements, keyboarding and telephone handling
  • Strong communication skills including conflict management and resolution
  • Ability to ambulate, climb stairs, and move quickly without limitations in a variety of environments

Preferred Qualifications
