Job Description

The Pastry Cook at La Plume plays an integral role in bringing our dessert program to life. Working alongside our Chef and culinary team, this position is hands‑on, creative, and rooted in precision. From daily production to service, the Pastry Cook helps craft beautiful, thoughtful desserts that reflect La Plume’s French-inspired approach and commitment to quality.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about pastry, attentive to detail, and eager to grow within a refined kitchen environment. At La Plume, pastry is not an afterthought—it’s a final impression, and as a Pastry Cook, you’ll help ensure every guest experience ends on a memorable note.

The Day to Day
  • Prepare and execute a variety of pastries, desserts, breads, and plated desserts in accordance with La Plume’s culinary standards and recipes.
  • Support the Pastry Chef in daily mise en place, production, and service for lunch, dinner, and special events.
  • Maintain consistency, quality, and presentation across all pastry offerings.
  • Assist with menu development, testing, and seasonal updates as directed by the Pastry Chef.
  • Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and health & safety standards at all times.
  • Ensure workstations are clean, organized, and stocked for efficient service.
  • Collaborate closely with the culinary team to support smooth kitchen operations.
  • Monitor ingredient quality and freshness; assist with inventory, labeling, and storage.
  • Minimize waste through careful preparation and portion control.
  • Participate in special events, tastings, and private dining as required.
Qualifications
  • 2–3years of hands‑on cooking experience in a fast‑paced, professional restaurant kitchen. Experience in pastry or dessert production is an asset.
  • Culinary diploma or degree from a recognized culinary program is preferred but not required.
  • Foundational knowledge of professional cooking techniques, including proper knife handling and kitchen safety practices.
  • Ability to take direction with a positive attitude and work calmly, efficiently, and collaboratively in a high‑pressure service environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a genuine care for consistency, presentation, and quality.
  • Physically able to stand and work on your feet for the duration of a shift
  • A passion for pastry and a desire to continue learning and growing within a refined, chef‑driven kitchen.
  • Available weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
