Overview

We're looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Bookkeeper & Accountant to help us catch up and stay current with both personal and business bookkeeping and taxes. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, proactive, and comfortable cleaning up historical financial data while building clean systems going forward. This is a long-term role with potential to quickly grow in hours and responsibility.

Responsibilities
  • Bookkeeping (Personal & Business): Catch up and reconcile historical bookkeeping; Categorize transactions accurately (personal vs business); Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards; Track income, expenses, owner draws, and transfers; Maintain clean, organized books on a monthly basis; Prepare monthly summaries and reports
  • Tax Support & Preparation: Prepare books and documentation for personal and business tax filings; Coordinate with tax authorities and/or tax professionals as needed; Identify missing documents, discrepancies, or compliance issues; Support year-end and back-tax cleanup
  • Systems & Organization: Improve bookkeeping structure and workflows; Ensure clean separation between personal and business finances; Maintain clear documentation and audit-ready records; Communicate clearly about issues, risks, or action items

Communication, Availability & Confidentiality Expectations
  • Must respond to messages within 1 business day
  • During active cleanup periods or deadlines, must respond within 4 business hours
  • Must have at least 3 - 4 hours of overlap with Pacific Time (PT)
